The name Peridot comes from the Arabic word "faridat," meaning gem. Ancient Egyptians called them the "gem of the sun," because of their dazzling brilliance when seen in the desert sun.

Cooper’s Gem Mine is a fun and educational tourist attraction located in historical Blountville, TN. Miners come to our facility to sluice authentic mine ore in our 300 foot onsite flume. When you find it, you keep it!
